Compliment.

It was a sunday morning and I had gotten up a bit later than usual that day.

During breakfast with my family, we were having our usual discussions when I noticed that the house was all clean and my mother looked a bit tired. When I asked her if she was feeling okay she slowly replied, “I was just doing all the household work since morning and then today I also cooked your favourite meal.”

It struck me how much effort my mother takes for me on a daily basis. This is just one of those countless subtle moments when, if we take a pause, we will realise the efforts that some one is putting in for us. Its those kind of moments when we should verbally give a compliment or say thank you.

Sometimes we wonder what difference would it make if we do or don’t vocally appreciate our near dear ones… Maybe we make excuse to ourselves by thinking that the other person is just doing their work as usual and take things for granted. Let’s not take things for granted anymore. Let’s not keep our thank yous for other days. Let’s take a moment now and today.

Do you know that it’s a fact and many studies also show that complimenting or genuinely appreciating someone creates a positive impact on the person. It also helps to build their self-confidence and motivates them to continue with their good deeds. So keep spreading positivity around.

P.S. – Try to compliment one person in your day and see the magic and positive vibes it reflects in your life. 🙂

Embrace your uniqueness.

It was just yesterday when someone made a passing remark and compared me to someone who is superior to me in some aspects.

The whole night and the following day I kept feeling bad about it.. I wanted to ask how he dared to compare me and tell me that I’m not good enough.

But when I analyzed the whole matter at some distance, I realized that the other person may truly be good in academics than I’m or have more knowledge than I have, maybe she is indeed prettier or whatever it is…I should not feel inferior because of it.
I guess every one – literally just about everyone has felt inferior to someone else at some point of time in some way or the other. Maybe some one is more intelligent than you, more talented than you, higher educated than you, more beautiful than you, healthier or richer than you….
But we should realize that everyone is unique. We should learn to embrace our own uniqueness. As we do this, we’ll start feeling more confident and at peace with ourselves. The whole society is just continuously comparing and the whole idea now sounds so stupid to me.

Everyone talks, eats, sleeps, or thinks in a different way. So we should stop comparing our lives to others and even if we do, we shouldn’t feel sorry because of it.

P. s. We should just be confident in who we are and stop worrying if someone doesn’t like us. It’s not our problem. It’s theirs.

Letter to my future child..

Everything starts small. The seeds for potential criminals and misogynists as well. If 15-16 year old educated children behave like we saw, somewhere we as a society have failed. Our chalta hai attitude and boys will be boys mentality is the one to blame.

Dear future child of mine,

I don’t care if u are a boy or a girl. You’d be equal to me, let both be equal to you too. I don’t care if you are an achiever or not, I just hope you’ll be a decent human being first of all . I’ll hold your hands, teach you to jump, I’ll dry your tears, clean your bum, I’ll work hard to help u reach high. Please never do something to make me or others cry.

If you are a boy,
Respect others be it girls or boys , respect others be it ur family, girlfriend, colleague, or unknown . Stand up for ur family, stand up for unknowns.
Stand up for ur friends or even against then if situation bemoan. You’ll have many friends outside of family, but filter them out wisely. Remember what to go along with and where to put a full stop. Its brave to be alone if against the the cheap ‘boys locker room’ talk.
Remember that slang words against women are not macho, lust isn’t love and NO should mean NO . When you outgrow my need still remember the good deeds that I had sown.

If you are a girl,
I’ll give u the wings to fly high in the sky. I’ll make sure the chains of gender don’t demand your sacrifice, cry or sigh.
You’ll be perfect as u are, tall or short, fair or dark, housewife, air hostess or film star. Yet, u’ll meet many people in this journey of yours. When things go wrong, always raise ur voice don’t bear any cross.

Remember it’s okay to say No or Yes. It’s okay to forgive, adjust or chuck the things not working & start afresh.

Life is a gift and live it just like that. In ur good health & spirits, I will always be blessed.

Adult conversations

I don’t understand why everybody is so much afraid of adult conversations.

You don’t like me? Tell me why. I want to better myself..

You don’t want to talk to me? At least don’t ignore me. Tell me the reason.

You are mad at me? Express your feelings.

Am I wrong somewhere? Let me know. Let me correct myself.

We don’t agree? Let’s talk it out. Let’s share our feelings. It’s not that difficult to have such conversations.
I believe we should try no matter how hard things get. Share your viewpoints people.
P. S. Miscommunication is the greatest distance between two people. It is started by EGO and some of the best relationships get broken because of this.

The muted generation

While traveling in a metro with him the other day I asked, “Why do you always put your earphones on? So people won’t come and talk to you? ” To which he silently nodded and started listening to his favorite Playlist.

Even up to a decade earlier, our society was much more social. While travelling, people used to share life stories with random strangers or they made an effort to remember other people’s birthdays and special moments…Nowadays how many times do you actually call your closed ones?

There used to be a time when we would talk for hours on the telephone but that is a now a thing of past! We are connected more than ever, but the connection is going weaker over time.

Let’s change ourselves a little bit. Go out of our way and talk to that old friend who is now just a social media friend. Let’s take out time and visit those people also are not ‘online’.

Let’s change before we become the muted generation !
